TADPOLE WINS SYSTEMS SOFTWARE CONTRACT FROM NORWEB
Norweb replaces microfiche in regional offices and field operations

Cambridge, March 23, 2000 - Mobile business (m-business) computing specialist Tadpole Technology plc today announced that its software business unit Tadpole-Cartesia has won an initial contract from Norweb Plc, a leading electricity distribution business within the United Utilities group.

Tadpole-Cartesia's software has been selected by Norweb Distribution to support its enterprise-wide drive to reduce operational costs, and to further improve levels of customer service.

Forming an integral part of digitised systems being introduced by the utility to replace traditional methods and tools of workflow such as microfiche, Tadpole-Cartesia's software will assist Norweb Distribution to facilitate the viewing, management and distribution of asset data across all operations, and improve restoration times for incidents.

This latest software contract from a prominent utility follows two others won by Tadpole's field systems business unit in recent weeks - from Niagara Mohawk of upstate New York for rapid collection of customer data in the field and to strengthen relationships with its customers, and from UnitedNetworks, New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity, for "in the field" line repairs and maintenance.

Bernard Hulme, group chief executive of Tadpole Technology plc, comments: "Tadpole-Cartesia's field systems are helping increasing numbers of utilities in Europe, North America and Australasia to cut the cost of doing business, improve operational effectiveness, and achieve enterprise-wide gains in workforce productivity."
